Arriving in Tokyo!

The 11 hour flight went a lot quicker than expected, mostly just watched films to pass the time, I kept falling asleep and missing the endings. Food on the flight wasn’t bad, for dinner they had Chicken Cutlet and Rice on the menu, I was so excited about that but then they said they ran out! We arrived safely in Tokyo ahead of schedule, landing at around 9am Japan time.

Getting from the plane all the way through to arrivals there were no problems, process was well organsied by the staff, very impressive, we were through with our bags in hand in no more than 10 minutes. Ready to head into Tokyo, we needed to go to the travel center to pick up our NEX + Suica cards. If you’re traveling to Japan, make sure you get one, it’s basically ticket into Tokyo and the travel card needed to get around Tokyo with preloaded credit, saves a lot of money.

We were traveling into Tokyo on the NEX train, never been on one of these before, it’s very high tech. We were waiting to board when we saw the cleaner spin all the seats around, amazing! When we got on with our luggage, there were locking systems with passwords for all the cases, pretty cool.

The train took an hour to get from the airport to Tokyo station, which isn’t bad. we spent the time playing Wario Ware DIY on Penny’s DS. When we arrived at Tokyo Station, we walked for a good 20 minutes getting to the underground line we wanted in Tokyo Station, it’s HUGE!! We managed to get to the stop where our hotel was pretty easily.

Cas lead the way because I would have just got us lost, he did a good job of walking us in a straight line to the road the hotel was on. It was only a 5 minute walk from the station and very close to a Family Mart, perfect for snacks! We found the hotel with no trouble, Cas was well prepared with maps and print outs. The only annoying thing was the 20 minute trek around Tokyo Station with large suitcases. This is our hotel, Sumisho Hotel in Nihombashi.

We paid for our rooms and I got my 49 single Yen coins changed up by the kind man behind the check-in desk, Cas and Penny were shocked when I handed them over but he was glad to change them up. Cas and Penny’s room wasn’t ready so we all bundled into my tiny room. It’s really not bad!

After I settled into my room and we had a tiny bit of a rest watching some random Japanese TV shows, we decided to go out to Family Mart for some snacks, by the time we came back Cas and Penny’s room was ready. We’re having a bit of a rest up now and will be going out to enjoy the day soon! To end this post, i’ll just finish with this picture of some of the Snacks I brought from the shop, yet to try any of them yet…

I bought, Cola and Lemonade Kitkats, some sortof Pudding and possibly lemon flavor chocolate things and Cream Soda Flavor Cube Gum. I can’t wait to eat it but i’m going to pace myself to prevent diabetes.

Expect another update later, they’ll be daily from tomorrow rather than broken up during the day.
